After the advent of the textile industry and weaving of fabrics, curtains became more common as more people could afford to buy curtains. To add to the beauty of curtains, different ways of hanging curtains were introduced. Curtains became much more elaborate and a number of new fabrics were introduced as curtain cloth. Curtains with floral designs were preferred in traditional curtain designs as they added some design and broke the monotony of plain walls. The different curtain hanging designs that were introduced in traditional curtains were again introduced to break the monotony of the curtains and to make the curtains look elegant and elaborate.
First things are looking at how tight of weave it is and if it’s really stated to be blackout. If a curtain says it has 99% blackout then it normally means that the curtains have been put through at least 3 coats of liquefied rubber polymer. This helps not only to close up the gaps so no light comes in but helps reduce sound as there’s less of a chance for it to get in. However watch for reviews that state they saw light coming in as then it probably isn’t coated and you won’t get as much noise reduction as you want. The next things to look for are how thick or heavy the fabric is as the thicker it is the better those soundproof curtains will be. While it maybe obvious avoid anything related to silk in your curtains as these do not block out any sound despite what companies may say. The final thing to do is just test curtains yourself. Not all curtains will block out the noise you think they will so you may need to experiment with a few different set of curtains before you find that perfect set.
For bedrooms with large windows, the curtains can be used to add coziness to the room. If the room is small, they can help to make it look bigger or spacious. You can have floor length curtains made of lace or satin, which is ideal for both children and adult bedrooms. You can also use sheer curtains in the bedroom, which make it look good and also make it appear bigger and spacious. The curtains can either be roll ups or pull apart and you can also have valances or cornices.
