Sari curtains are the perfect material if you are on the lookout for light or elegant drapes with luxury. The material imparts a gentle or cool look and is soft to touch. These curtains are normally made out of saris. These sari curtains are usually exported to various countries from India. You have the advantage of selecting from a wide variety - both in style and finish from websites like indianselections.com, saricurtain.com and saridecor.com
First things are looking at how tight of weave it is and if it’s really stated to be blackout. If a curtain says it has 99% blackout then it normally means that the curtains have been put through at least 3 coats of liquefied rubber polymer. This helps not only to close up the gaps so no light comes in but helps reduce sound as there’s less of a chance for it to get in. However watch for reviews that state they saw light coming in as then it probably isn’t coated and you won’t get as much noise reduction as you want. The next things to look for are how thick or heavy the fabric is as the thicker it is the better those soundproof curtains will be. While it maybe obvious avoid anything related to silk in your curtains as these do not block out any sound despite what companies may say. The final thing to do is just test curtains yourself. Not all curtains will block out the noise you think they will so you may need to experiment with a few different set of curtains before you find that perfect set.
Once you have decided the curtain pattern, mark the point from where you will start cutting. Use a light marker to make it easier for adjustments. The type of window will determine how you design your curtains. For French doors or windows the curtain opens in the middle therefore, you need two pieces of fabric. While cutting, leave a space of one inch or two along the edges for the hems. For ordinary windows and doors, the fabric should be one piece only.
Want to change your curtains? Simply unhook them from your curtain pole, attach the hooks to your new curtains and away you go. Replacing vertical blinds can involve unhooking each blind from the next, unclipping each one carefully (the plastic is easy to snap), and then going through the whole rigmarole in reverse to put them back up. Other blinds must be removed all in one, making it easy to damage them as they are taken down or put back up.
The buttonhooks require some extra fabric to make the straps. You will need a number of straps cut into equal sizes depending on the length of the curtain. The buttons should then be sewed on one end of each strap. Finally make buttonholes at the top edge of the curtain with regard to the size of the straps. One of the advantages of this method is that by adjusting the position of the buttonholes you can adjust the height of the curtain from the ground.
