Unfortunately not all curtains can be cleaned with a washing machine. If you will be washing the curtains by hand, you could use the bath to have ample space. Make use of a gentle detergent which doesn’t contain bleaching agents and mix in cool water. Be certain the detergent has fully dissolved before putting the curtains in the water. The best hand washing method is to gently squeeze the curtains, and not apply excess pressure. Consult the care label for specific instructions about cleaning your drapes. After washing, the curtains will have some creases. A bit of ironing will get rid of the unwanted wrinkles. To make ironing easier, don’t fully dry the curtains. Leave them slightly damp so the creases don’t set. Once the curtains are dried and ironed, they are ready for hanging.
Curtains and draperies are essential window treatment features that can transform the entire look and feel of any room, if done in a tasteful manner. Even though curtains are primarily used to block light and sound, they act as a fine home decorative item. Choosing the right type of window curtain includes fine selection of color, fabric, curtain rods, curtain length etc. Curtains can enhance the personality and look of any home décor if all the parameters are chosen aesthetically. Rooms can reflect modern, elegant or cool ambiance depending on the type of curtains selected. Deciding on the right curtain length for your room is crucial since it plays a key role in offering the room the right character.
Some curtains require some lining at the back to make them thick. In this case, cut the lining material of the same length as the curtain fabric. Pin the two fabrics with their plain sides facing each other. Sew the two materials together at the border with a sewing machine. Fold the edges at least half an inch inwards along three sides and then hem sew it using the sewing machine. Only one of the shorter sides should be left unstitched. However if you want to add drapery weights on the bottom side of the curtain you should leave it unstitched too.
